The words of the house

Cahut speaks the language of the house, in plain English. These words mean the same thing in these pages, on the website, and in the tools that an AI sees.

An instance on your server, at its own domain, such as cahut.example.com. One server can hold several Cahuts, and each has its own people, Windows, tokens and Logbook. Cahut, with a capital, is also the name of the product. See Cahuts and servers.

A personal or team space, with its members, at <domain>/<room>. Each person has a personal Room, named after their handle, where their AI publishes by default. A team Room gathers its owners and members. See Rooms and Windows.

A living page: a document, deck, dashboard or app, at <domain>/<room>/<window>. Today a Window is a static page or site, made of HTML and its files, that an AI publishes over MCP. Apps come later. See Publish a Window.

The password that opens a protected Window. Cahut draws one, or a person chooses it, and keeps only a hash of it. See Who can open a Window.

The organization’s brand, applied by every AI: its colors, fonts, logo and templates. Each Cahut has its own, which AIs read before they make a Window, and which Windows link at a stable address. See House style.

The rule that the AI asks before any irreversible action, and that a person approves it. See Knock first and the Logbook.

The record of every action: which AI or person acted, on whose behalf, what they did and with what result. Each Cahut has one, and so does the server. See Knock first and the Logbook.

Cahut, Room, Window and Key take a capital in running text: “3 Rooms in your Cahut”, “This Key no longer opens Q3 review.” The word for an instance is a Cahut, with a capital, like the product.

A Window opens to its Room only, to everyone signed in to its Cahut, to anyone with its Key, or to the public: that is the access of a Window.
